Film/TV Acting - Curriculum

April

The Casting Process - from self tapes, to recalls; chemistry reads and the eventual full cast table read, this month has everything you need to prepare and ace that audition - no matter what the process may be!

May

Taking Direction - one of the greatest skills an actor can master is the ability to take direction. This month, our students will learn not only how to take direction, but also have to give it to themselves, all through group collaboration!

June

Emotional Diversity - being able to perform with a colourful and believable range of emotions, no matter the project is incredibly important for a successful actor. However, how we achieve these emotions in a realistic way for the audience, yet a safe way for us, can be done in a variety of approaches. This month, we will explore many techniques for our actors to choose from. What they decide to use is up to them, but we will try it all!

July

Empowering the Plot & Summer Show Auditions - This month is all about digesting the plot of a project. You aced the audition; the role is yours, but what next? Our students will learn all about building a character from script to screen and creating a detailed character arch for the audience to follow. Through this, we will also be holding our auditions for the Summer Showcase! Coming soon...

August

Summer Showcase - The time has come for another show! This month is all about the performance. Bringing together both Juniors and Seniors, all students will shine in a recorded performance for everyone to enjoy!

September

Physical Performance - Whilst the mind is a powerful tool for all actors, connecting our acting to our body is integral to a complex and believable performance. This month, our students shall learn a variety of physical techniques to deepen their connection to their characters.

October

The History of Acting - Technique? Check. Performance? Check. Creativity? Check. But what else is there? Understanding the foundations of the thing we love so dearly, and the industry we are a part of is essential to both our skills as an actor, but also as a business person in this ever-changing industry. This month is about appreciation for the pillars of the craft and the events and people that laid the ground work for both the art and business we see today - but never straying from the fun of performing whilst doing it!

November

Crew & Cast Combined - As an actor, we are a cog in the beautiful machine of every project we work on. The more we understand not only the part we play in the creation of a film/series/show, but also every other creative that brings their skills to the table, the better prepared we are on set. This month is about learning to make other cast members and the crew's job easier to do, whilst appreciating every person on set. Whether it be producer, director or PA - everyone matters and so do you!

December

End of Year Showcase - Another year, another celebration of all the hard work our students have done. Settle in for a creative showcase of their talents, exploring all that we've learned this year!
